Star Wars: Halcyon Dawn
Black Sun held a massive amount of reach and influence, extending its tendrils of corruption deep in the various galactic governments of each era. It was infamous for its involvement in piracy and smuggling. But smuggling was just the tip of the iceberg of the galaxy-wide organization. It was involved in every known type of illegal activity; its information networks surpassed even the accuracy and scope of Imperial Intelligence. The resources available to Black Sun rivaled those belonging to a large planetary army, including foot soldiers. Below the leader of Black Sun were nine Vigos (Old Tionese for “nephew”). Each Vigo ruled over his or her own territory and sector.
The Black Sun operations in Halcyon are very new. Overseen by the Bothan Vigo Prisk Azira, Black Sun emerged onto the scene in Halcyon only two years ago, challenging the power of Shri’ara T’Lok and the Void Syndicate. However, fueled by the near-infinite resources of the mother organization, Prisk and the Blacks Suns have established an exceptional foothold in the sector. This is primarily due to the increase in the illegal drug trade. With an easy line of supply from the core worlds, the Black Suns have been able to fill a niche within the system by trading spice, glitterstim, and lesai. These drugs are in contrast to the pongeia based hallucinogens traded by the Void Syndicate. The profits from these activities have in turn allowed the Black Suns to compete with the Syndicate in their traditional markets of dominance including prostitution, undocumented slaves, and illegal gambling. So far their efforts in these areas have been small in comparison with their dominance of the drug trade, but day by day their influence in these sectors grows. In addition, the Black Suns have sponsored several smaller fringe gangs that had been dissatisfied with the Syndicate’s policies of Imperial non-interference and restricted trade in chems. Thus far, Prisk has yet to formally engage Shri’ara other than through a complicated web of influence and indirect economic warfare. The Black Suns have also been able to elude the Imperial elements as well, managing to stay a single step ahead of Katrin Zhann’s storm troopers. For now, an uneasy stalemate exists between the local dominance of Shri’ara and the vast drug-fueled resources of Black Sun.
